I’m a HUGE fan of trying to solve my personal problems through reading. If you are also one of those people, please, step inside my book list and make yourself at home.

The Gardener’s Guide to Prairie Plants by Neil Diboll and Hilary Cox
Landscaping with Native Plants of Wisconsin by Lynn M. Steiner
Native Plants of the Midwest by Alan Branhagen
Groundcover Revolution by Kathy Jentz
Bringing Nature Home by Douglas Tallamy
The Ultimate Flower Gardener’s Guide by Jenny Rose Carey
Building Soil by Elizabeth Murphy
How to Design a Garden by Polyanna Wilkinson
Starting and Saving Seeds by Julie Thompson-Adolf
Podcasts
Given that I spend so much time working in gardens, my own and others, I am an avid podcast listener. Have you got a problem? I can probably prescribe a podcast for it.
Here are some I’ve enjoyed about gardening:
Plantrama with Ellen Zachos and C.L. Fornari. This one is dormant, but the information is perennial, so I highly recommend going back and listening to the catalog.
Plants Always Win with Sean Patchett and Erin Alladin
A Way to Garden with Margaret Roach
Grow Like Wild with Rebecca McMackin
And here are some non-gardening podcasts that make hours of weeding go by enjoyably:
Ologies with Alie Ward (the best science podcast to ever exist. one of the best podcasts to ever exist.)
BirdNote Daily (a 2-minute daily meditation on birds)
Casuals with Katie Nolan (sports! but casual)
Text Me Back with Lindy West and Meagan Hatcher-Mays (for when you need belly laughs)
Corporate Gossip with Becca and Adam Platsky (business news for the non-business news type)
Culture Study with Anne Helen Peterson (thoughtful discussions about the culture that surrounds us)
Glamorous Trash with Chelsea Devantez (celebrity memoirs taken seriously and pop culture discussions)
History is Sexy with Emma Southon and Janina Matthewson (history! hilariously and non-patriarchally)
Sixteenth Minute with Jamie Loftus (dormant, but worth a listen to the catalog)
