Installation
What it is
Sometimes I work with clients who are interested in doing the garden labor themselves, they just need some guidance. Sometimes I work with clients who need guidance and labor! That’s where the installation step comes in.
Once a design has been finalized, I can work with clients to determine the best course forward to implementing it. I may do some or all of the labor depending on their budget and free time. When working with a client on a design, we’ll discuss whether they plan to hire me for installation as well, as I provide a discount on design fees to clients for whom I’m providing installation labor.
Installation involves preparing the site for planting, procuring the plants, and putting them into the new garden areas. I don’t do hardscaping, so if your design includes those elements I’ll provide recommendations for other providers for that element.
How it works
While in the initial stages of your design process, we’ll discuss whether you plan to hire me for installation as well.
Once we’ve finalized your design, I’ll calculate an estimate for my installation services so you know what to expect.
I prepare the site and plant your new garden
Some projects are too large for me to tackle, in which case I’ll recommend you hire someone else for some or all of the labor. This also depends how quickly you want the project completed.
What it costs
For installation labor, I charge $100 an hour.
I provide an estimate for the total installation costs prior to beginning this phase of the project, which includes:
plants sourced from my wholesale nurseries
other materials such as mulch, compost, topsoil, etc.
hours of labor
