How do I work with you?

Contact me through the form on my contact page, by emailing me at liz@asterlupine.com, or by directly scheduling an intro call. We’ll discuss your needs and determine which services are the best fit for you and your dream garden.
What is the difference between garden design and landscaping?
3
Aster + Lupine offers garden design that focuses on selecting the right plants for the existing conditions in your yard. My garden design also uses a higher density of perennials and shrubs in order to create a full and naturalistic aesthetic. (This also minimizes the need for weeding as plants reach their mature sizes.) My design also use mostly to entirely native plants, as the goal of an Aster + Lupine design is to be both beautiful and beneficial to the environment. Landscaping companies, on the other hand, usually focus on more basic, low plant density designs and are often (but not always!) not geared toward incorporating native plants or giving your yard that full, more naturalistic look.
What is garden consulting?
4
Garden consulting, sometimes called garden coaching, involves my advising you about what to do in your yard without providing a full design. This could include my visiting your garden to help you identify what you have and how to maintain it, giving you ideas about how to expand or shape your garden beds, how to prune shrubs and otherwise maintain your garden, how and where to add in more native plants, and much more. After a visit, I always send clients a detailed document with notes on everything we discussed.
Some clients start with a garden consultation before moving on to hiring me for a full design, but when I work with a client on a garden consultation, I don’t assume they also want a design unless that’s something we discuss. I won’t try to talk you into something that you don’t want or need!
Why should I work with you?
5
If you’re interested in making your yard a better place for the birds and the pollinators, if you want more color and life in your garden throughout the year, if you’ve heard that you should be gardening with native plants but don’t know how to do any of that and don’t have the time or energy to research it on your own, my services might be a good fit for you.
If you need someone to tell you what to do and how to do it in your yard, I could be your gal! I often work with clients who are not opposed to doing some or all of the garden labor themselves, they just don’t know WHAT to do. That’s where I can help with garden consulting and/or design. My designs include a detailed implementation guide, perfect for setting you up for success in caring for and maintaining your garden for years to come, as well as teaching you how to install the garden yourself if that’s what you want to do (I also offer garden installation if you don’t want to do it yourself).
